Calendar
Pro Frequently Asked Questions
1) Do I need a copy of FileMaker Pro to use CalendarPro?
NO! As an official developer of FileMaker Pro, we can
compile the program so that FileMaker is not needed and you can
run the program without purchasing a copy of FileMaker Pro.
2) What system requirements are needed to run SalesPro?
Check out system requirements on our requirements
page.
3) Is the Program Year 2000 Compliant?
YES!
Note: If you import / transfer data from a non-complaint
program that stores it's dates using 2 letters designations
(1/1/00) instead of the proper 4 letter designations (1/1/2000)
you may need to use the replace command to convert your data. This
is only an issue if any of your data is in the range 1/1/00 to
12/31/09.
More information can be found at FileMaker Pro's site http://www.filemaker.com/about/year2000directory.html.
4) What is your support policy?
Maintenance updates are available free from our web site.
Maintenance updates include bug fixes and minor enhancements to
the program.
When a newer version arrives with increased functionality, you
will need to pay for these increased capabilities if you desire to
have them.
5) Is customization available to fine tune the program further to
my business needs?
YES! Our programmers can add additional features, if
desired, at a rate of $110/hr. (A firm quote will be provided
before the work begins).
6) Is on site training available?
YES! Cost is $800 for a 1 day training + Travel Expenses.
7) Can I set pricing specific to each customer?
YES! By using the price group fields in the inventory and
sub-inventory file.
8) Can I email clients from CalendarPro?
YES! But you must meet the following criteria, or use a
Filemaker Plugin.
To send mail, you must have an Internet connection and:
- Windows:
- A (mail) section in the Win.ini file.
- Microsoft Exchange or another email applications that is MAPI
compliant installed and configured properly
- MacOS:
- Have Claris Emailer, Qualcomm Eudora Light, or Eudora Pro
installed to send email.
- The Internet Config tool (version 1.1 or higher) installed and
configured to process the mailto protocol.
9) Can I have a larger appearance when the window is open?
YES! Use the tool in the lower left corner of any window!
The program remembers your last settings when you launch the
program the next time (unless your using a multi-user version,
then it uses the last way the server version was open as it's
default.
Use these tools -->
Left button is the reduce, right button is the enlarge.
10) Can I put more comments in than the limited area in the
contact or customer screen?
- YES! the field grows as you enter more data OR conversely use
the notes tab to add notes that are dated. Use the arrow tab to
enlarge any note.
11) Can the program auto-enter information based on the first few
letters.
- No! This is a limitation of Filemaker Pro, although a third
party may develop a plugin that adresses this issue.
12) What is the difference between Contacts & Customers?
- You can have multiple contacts per customer. So for example if
you have 5 contacts at the Pepsi-Cola Company, You can make one
customer entry that groups the 5 contacts, & their notes &
meeting history all under one customer file.
13) Why isn't there a close box on each window?
- The database needs access to information stored in each file
and closing a file simply just forces the database to re-open the
file to re-access the information. But, you can use the hide
window command under the window menu to "hide" a window from
view.
14) Is there a Time and Date stamp on each entry?
- There is a time and date stamp on each new record in any file
such as when a new customer was entered. There is also a date
stamp on the last modification to any record, but the database
does not save a chronological change to each field.
15) Is there a reminder feature?
- Not at this time, but we are developing an applescript
reminder for the Macintosh version that should be available in
October. We hope to have a Windows plugin near the end of
2001.
16) Can we import data from another product?
- Yes, goto the file menu and choose import. The program
supports, tab-separated text, DIF, DBF, comma-separated, excel and
others.
- If your using act, the customer file is already in DBF format
and can be imported in the database. The notes attached to
customers are in a proprietary format that we can extract thru a
time consuming manual filtration process. We charge $350 for this
service, per act database. You can also try to convert your own
notes file using BBedit and FilemakerPro and calculated replaces
for deliminators.
17) How do I return to TODAY in the calendar file?
- Yes use the button at the top of the calendar screen
- Or use the goto today command under the script/calendar pro
menu (not on the current demo).
18) Can the calendar be divided into 30 minute intervals?
- Slated for mid-November update release. The power of FileMaker
allows us you to integrate CalendarPro with your other Filemaker
databases, but unfortunately makes this task particularly
difficult to achieve. Our programmers are adding this
capability.
19) Print to a day-timer format?
- Slated for mid-November update release. Our programmers are
working on this capability.
20) Create a quote from within the application?
- Slated for mid-November update release. Our programmers are
working on this capability.
